Around me the world moves
Silent as a grave and colder than morning frost
It surrounds and swallows all
Loneliness is a constant companion.
It offers a skeletal hand that must not be taken.
I resist the clammy lure at a cost;
Bitter day breaks through my window,
A crushing weight in my heart;
It beats on despite all woes.
I see my peers content in their lives,
They assume they know me but I hear them whisper
And hide my pain from prying eyes.
I will remain strong on the outside
Sadness is vast ocean that tosses me like a ball
While I struggle, treading rising tides.
From pillar to post I stumble and trip,
Overcoming one obstacle after another,
Unending in Despair’s pit.
